ABOUT DISCOVERY CONCERT 2019
Music and architecture have many things in common – rhythm, texture, harmony, proportion, dynamics – and composers and architects throughout the ages have often approached their work in similar ways. Join us for the 2019 Discovery Concert as the Boulder Philharmonic and special guests explore the intersection between sounds and structures, featuring orchestral works by Bach, Britten, Mussorgsky, Ives, and more. Designed for students in grades 3-6, this program includes a 50-minute concert at Macky Auditorium, an optional 45-minute in-school visit with a chamber music ensemble, and a bilingual listening and learning guide for teachers. Pre-registration for returning schools opens in July, regular registration opens in September.
Thursday, February 28, 2019 – 2 concerts at 10 AM & 11:30 AM
Friday, March 1, 2019 – 2 concerts at 10 AM & 11:30 AM
ADD AN IN-SCHOOL VISIT
Hosting a Boulder Phil Brass Quintet or String Quartet during the fall semester at your school brings instrumental music alive for your students! This “up-close and personal” experience highlights instrument families, composers and plenty of time for student questions. We also offer in-school engagements with Maestro Butterman.
Students attend the Discovery Concert for just $6, and teachers and chaperones attend free of charge. All curriculum materials are included with registration, and schools are responsible for transportation arrangements. Financial assistance is available, please inquire.
