Rush, by CU assistant professor Daniel Kellogg, is a high-energy opener to our season finale concert. Christopher Theofanidis’ Rainbow Body provides a sublime meditation based on a chant by Hildegard von Bingen, a medieval mystic. Carmina burana’s text celebrates the earthly pleasures of wine, food and sex...while the music captivates us with primal chants and insistent, repetitive rhythms. A big production, this concert features a large orchestra and chorus, a children’s chorus, and soprano Mary Wilson, tenor William Parsons, and baritone Dennis Jesse as soloists.
Catch a free, 30-minute talk on this concert by Don Campbell, world-renowned author of The Mozart Effect, at 6:30 p.m. at Macky.
