Brian Knott

Performing with the Boulder Phil since 1999

Since returning to Colorado in 2000 after graduate school at Indiana University, Brian Knott has enjoyed a busy and rewarding life as a bassist and string educator. He serves as assistant principal double bass of the Boulder Philharmonic and regularly freelances with the region's top orchestras. He enjoys a diverse musical career, of which one of his favorite facets is as a performer for many of the touring Broadway productions presented by the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Most recently he could be found in the pit of Wicked, but he's performed in dozens of local and traveling theatre productions. Other recent highlights include collaborating as the original bassist of Frozen the Musical, performing Book of Mormon, Mean Girls, Beautiful, and Phantom of the Opera in the Buell Theatre, several productions with the Colorado Ballet in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, and Sondheim's A Little Night Music in the DCPA's newly renovated Wolf Theater. Brian is also active as a jazz musician in the rocky mountain region and has appeared in the Aspen Music Festival and Festival at Sandpoint. Brian loves calling Colorado home and taking advantage of all the state has to offer.
