Katie Wychulis, an Omaha native, is principal harp of the Lincoln and Sioux City symphonies and the Boulder Philharmonic. She graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying with Alice Chalifoux and Yolanda Kondonassis, and earned her master of music degree from Rice University with Paula Page. A Fulbright grant recipient, Katie studied contemporary harp performance practices in Australia with Alice Giles. Past performance highlights include concertos with the Omaha, Lincoln and Sioux City symphonies. Katie also regularly plays as guest principal harpist and substitutes with the Charleston, Kansas City, and Omaha symphonies as well as with the Colorado Music Festival. She keeps an active chamber music schedule, performing with ensembles such as the Nebraska Chamber Players and the Omaha Chamber Music Society. Katie is a volunteer for many local area non-profits, including the Great Plains Harp Chapter, Nebraska Chamber Players, and Omaha Chamber Music Society, of which she currently serves as general manager. She teaches at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Creighton University, loves to hike and work in her garden, and lives in Omaha with three daughters, her dog, and four chickens.
