Veronica Sawarynksi, violinist, fell in love with the violin at age 6 in her hometown of Golden, CO, where she was inspired by her vibrant first teacher, Alliree Meyers. She studied with Basil Vendryes, Yumi Hwang-Williams, Linda Wang, Matt Means (BM Performance and Certificate in Orchestral Studies, University of Denver); Lina Bahn (MM Performance, CU Boulder); and Simin Ganatra (Quartet Studies, U. of Illinois Champaign-Urbana). Veronica received Suzuki certification under James Maurer (2003-2007), and has a private studio year-round. Teaching highlights include coaching chamber music and orchestra for Boulder Suzuki Strings, coaching at Fort Hays State University (FHSU)’s High Plains Music Camp, and coaching chamber ensembles for University of Illinois’ Academy. Veronica held positions including Concertmaster of Lakewood Symphony (2007-2011); Principal 2 nd , Denver Philharmonic (2007-2008); 1 st Violin, Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra (2013-2015). Current positions include 1 st Violin, Boulder Philharmonic (2008-present), Violin, Opera Colorado (2013-present), Substitute for Central City Opera (2015-present), and Substitute for Colorado Ballet (2023-present). In November 2023, she performed a solo piece called Oshta, by Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate, and the duo “Aurora” by Alice Shields with oboist Sarah Bierhaus for “Gaia Theory with Martin Ogle” at Lafayette Library. Veronica also performs with Sphere Ensemble (2015-present), a string ensemble performing diverse programs and outreach in the Denver area. She genuinely enjoys participating in yearly school programs with the Boulder Philharmonic’s Education Quartet; she loves performing for enthusiastic audiences, answering questions, and connecting to students via the program.
